Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G Review

New Year Gift

The new year is here, and with it comes a number of new phone releases. One of the more notable one of these is Samsung’s new Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. The flagship phone of the flagships, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G has the best new features and specifications.

This new premier phone is the biggest from the three new Galaxy S21 phones unveiled together, namely the S21, S21 Plus and the S21 Ultra 5G. The S21 Ultra is priced at $1200 in the US, which is around $200 less than last year’s S20 Ultra.

Sleek design

The design and finish of the phone is clean and smooth. Also, the back is exceedingly good at not getting smudged with fingerprints. The matte black finish, called the phantom black, is a really neat design. It makes sense why Samsung felt the need to make an almost 3 minute video on it.

One of the cons of this phone’s design is the fact that the large camera bump makes it quite uneven. So, when put on a flat surface, the phone still rocks a little bit and does not lay flat.

The S21 Ultra is the first phone from the S line that comes with S-Pen support. This means that you can use an S-Pen to write, draw, take notes, edit and also sign documents and photos.

Although, the phone does not actually come with an S-Pen and neither does the phone have a built-in slot to store an S-Pen. You can separately buy a new S-Pen to use on the S21 Ultra or use an old S-Pen.

The display of the phone is bright and impressive, as can be expected by Samsung, whose phones are known for their excellent displays. The 6.8-inch display is top of the line and also has a Wide Quad HD resolution.

The ultrasonic fingerprint reader on the lower half of the screen is about 1.77 times larger than that of last year’s phones and is quite good at quickly reading fingerprints. The right side of the phone has the power button and the volume buttons with no buttons on the left side.

The processor used in the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is the Snapdragon 888. Thanks to this ultra-fast processor, the phone runs smoothly and none of the apps and functions is slow or sluggish.

Perhaps the most noticeable thing about the new S21 Ultra’s design is that the phone has five cameras, four of which are rear cameras.  Two of these are telephoto cameras, one with 3x magnification and the one with 10x magnification. The other two cameras are a wide camera and an ultra-wide camera.

What’s not there in Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

One of the major cons of this phone is probably the fact this time around. Samsung has removed the expandable storage from the phone and also decided not to put a charger in the box. Buyers will have to buy a new charger separately.

Overall, this phone is a really good phone. If you are interested in getting your hands on one of the top new phones with all the latest new features and specifications, then the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is probably the phone meant for you.
