How to entertain kids at home is one of the frequent concerns of most parents. However, this becomes all the more important during the time of limited mobility.
What parents go through during lockdown?
Having kids stuck at home during lockdown means lots of fights between siblings, frequent complaints of boredom, the imploring requests for screen time, craving for snacks every 60 minutes, and whatnot.
Whether you are stuck indoors because of Coronavirus or bad weather, it can be challenging for parents to entertain their kids while they are indoors.
Kids giving ideas on “how to entertain kids”
For this video, we asked various kids to share their ideas with other kids. These kids are contributing their ideas of how kids can spend their time indoors, especially when they lack the option of going outside.
Note for parents
I feel tempted to add an important note to all parents. Do not exhaust yourself thinking that you will be a good parent only when you entertain your kids all the time. Putting up with boredom and finding creative ways of entertaining themselves is also an essential skill that every kid should learn. I repeat: you do not have to entertain your kids all the time.
Of course, you should spend time with them and bond with them as much as you can. However, at times, give them their options and let them figure it out for themselves. If there is more than one child, ask them to take turns at what they want to do, without needing parental supervision all the time.

This is time for reflection
Most importantly, utilize this time to sit back, relax, and analyze your life. Think about it this way: if you keep on spending your life like this, a few years down the lane, would you be where you want to see yourself? Take a mental note of your approach to life and adjust your focus towards habits and actions, as needed.
This time will also teach us the value of many things that we take for granted. It will show us what’s important, and what are the things that we considered essential but can happily live without them. Learn the lesson, and make sure to learn it well. So, remind yourself (and your kids) to be grateful that amid the chaos engulfing this world, you are fortunate enough to enjoy your life the way you want, as long as you stay at home.
Home time is a time for bonding
This is the perfect time to inculcate the habits that you want to see in your kids. Certainly, you have got plenty of time on your hand to teach them and to reinforce those habits. If you take the right approach, you will emerge out of this lockdown period as a better person and a better family.
Things are not going to stay like this forever. Soon life will get back to the same track, day in and day out, and you will be juggling with lots of responsibilities. So, utilize this time before you end up in that cycle of perpetual chaos. Think about what is important to you and your kids and focus on those values, especially during this time.
May this time-period help you to heal, bond, and love better!
